The SkiFIT Club

How the club came about

SNOWSPORT_ENGLAND_Logo-1.pngThe SkiFIT Club was founded by a group of women who completed a 30km cross-country skiing race (the Tjejvasan – part of the Vasaloppet series) in Sweden. As snow is limited in the UK, all UK training for the race was done on roller-skis – a new and fun experience for everyone. They met once a week for training as a group in addition to the individual training they did – all they needed was a hard surface such as tarmac and of course some roller-skis.

Once the race was over, enthused by their experience, they decided to create a club so that other like-minded people could join this growing sport. Luckily for the club, their most recent member who joined them for the race in Sweden is Fern Cates, Under18 Roller Skiing Ladies Champion.  Fern is hoping to be selected for the British Nordic Team in the Winter Youth Olympics. You can read more about her on the Fern Cates website.

Where are we

The SkiFIT Club operates in Sussex.  The club meets in Hove Park, Brighton for regular training sessions that are always fun. See the events page for times and locations.  They are adjusted to suit everybody’s ability so don’t be afraid to give it ago.  We are friendly and sociable lot who enjoy roller-skiing together and having social events to keep the club bonded.  As a club, they often participate in roller-ski races and for those that don’t wish to race, support and cheering on other team members is just as important.
